Anglepoise Lamp Rejuvenation

This lamp had been a bit battered over the years. The electric cord had been replaced some years back for a more modern flex, and the rubber grommets inserted to protect it from the metal edges (not my work), but it was rusting and the lamp head deformed.

After stripping it down, the protective plastic shield around the electrical switch was found to have gone brittle and fell apart. This has been replaced with a bespoke box made from some pieces of polypropylene I had lying around (an old box for screws).

The head was re-shaped by routing a circle of the correct diameter (using the circumference around the bent head). It's not perfect now, but it still looks a lot better than before.

The whole thing was stripped down into its component parts and sanded back so there was no rust showing

The whole was repainted using a gloss acrylic spray paint. I then sprayed with a clear acrylic to add a UV protective layer.

Here is the finished result after reassembly. Sadly I don't have a suitable bulb yet, so it's not yet looking quite the part.
